Inspection that is automated or semi-automated can be used in a variety of complementary ways. In the current environment, automation has mostly replaced manual inspection because errors are greatly minimised. Statistical sampling is used in automated inspection. Human inspectors can make mistakes, however automated systems are highly accurate. The complexity of inspection increases in tandem with the increase in competition among companies to offer high-quality products. While some inspection procedures are difficult for humans to perform, such as detecting defects in integrated circuit chips or printed circuit boards (PCB), avoiding situations where designers and manufacturers discover a faulty product at the last minute while the boards are in full production or already on the market.
